At the same time they enjoyed vesper services, campfire sing-alongs, fishing, hiking and all the rest Mimanagish has to offer, participants also helped get the place ready for the summer season.
Projects included re-roofing and cleaning out cabins and other buildings and--this year--cutting down more than a dozen dead trees that had unfortunately fallen prey to beetles and were posing a falling/fire hazard.
Don't worry though, there's still plenty of trees, beauty and shade.
Several families share a long tradition of visiting camp on this weekend every year and all of us who love Mimanagish are indebted to their stewardship. Their hard work over the years makes it possible for many more of us to enjoy camp during the rest of the summer.
As you can see, Mimanagish is beautiful in the late spring/early summer--very green and lots of wildflowers. The kids had a great time getting the Little Hudson flowing through camp again and spending days damming and undamming it, getting wet and muddy.
